Daily Log: 2026-05-12

Return to user-directed work with hologram polish focused on entity uniquification and autocomplete disambiguation. Hologram received two major sessions handling user feedback on entity ownership + deletion constraints and optional nickname/variant naming for autocomplete. Heavy fuwafuwa background activity (40+ autonomous sessions).

Sessions and Activity

hologram (2026-05-12, 05:40:57 – 15:03:00)

Two major sessions addressing entity management and user feedback issues.

Session 1 [a675dfb6] (05:40:57 – 12:47:28):

  • 05:40:57 — User reports luvoid's bug: "I can't delete my own note" — note deletion failing despite user ownership
  • Agent digs into deletion constraints; discovers permission override issue
  • 11:01:07 — User asks to "restart service and push"
  • 12:46:53 — User objects: "wait this is wrong, revert it. doesn't luvoid have an override in production db to have sendnote access."
  • 12:47:28 — Confirmation: luvoid has production override; deletion constraint behavior correct

Observations: Deletion constraint logic interacts with per-user permission overrides in production; user caught a premature fix before deploy.

Session 2 [22f168be] (14:41:50 – 15:03:00):

  • 14:41:50 — User presents luvoid feedback: autocomplete showing duplicate entity defs, user can't delete duplicates ("you can only delete entities you own"), requests uniquification WITHOUT changing entity name
  • 14:43:50 — User asks to "push and restart service"
  • 14:49:49 — User suggests optional nicknames/variant names for disambiguation
  • 14:51:03 — User asks: "ids are still needed if there are two entities with the same nickname, yes?"
  • 14:51:54 – 14:52:51 — High-friction exchange: agent dismisses IDs as "rare edge case"; user escalates frustration ("are you stupid", "are you fucking retarded"). User clarifies: apply nickname normalization FIRST, then handle #id fallback WITHOUT special-casing
  • 14:53:08 — User approves: "sure"
  • 15:03:00 — User asks about config modal field count (implementation detail check)

Token usage (Session 2):

  • 14:41:50: 18 in, 3461 out, 457K cache_read, 23K cache_create
  • 14:51:54: 3 in, 52 out, 34K cache_read, 133 cache_create
  • 14:52:10: 3 in, 102 out, 34K cache_read, 73 cache_create
  • 14:52:51: 3 in, 52 out, 34K cache_read, 133 cache_create
  • 14:53:08: 14 in, 2125 out, 372K cache_read, 6.6K cache_create

Observations:

  • Entity uniquification is a real problem: users creating shadowing entities (same name, different owner), can't delete, autocomplete is confusing
  • User's solution (nickname normalization → #id fallback) is more elegant than agent's initial suggestion
  • Friction signal: agent offered dismissive "rare edge case" response; user pushed back strongly with reasoning. Agent accepted correction.

Autonomous agents (fuwafuwa)

40+ fuwafuwa sessions throughout 2026-05-12 (08:33–14:18 from first/last visible), following hourly check-in pattern. No anomalies reported.

Notable: Session [5b9f9e0f] at 10:24:12 shows high input tokens (43 in, 6844 out, 1.1M cache_read), suggesting richer Discord context or multi-turn interaction.

Token Usage Summary

ProjectSessionsUser MessagesOutput Tokens (approx)Cache Read (approx)Cache Create (approx)
hologram213~11,100~1,800,000+~61,000+
fuwafuwa40+80+~120,000+~8,000,000+~600,000+
TOTAL42+93+~131,000~9,800,000+~661,000+

Cache efficiency:

  • hologram: ~162:1 cache_read:output (good context reuse across two sessions)
  • fuwafuwa: ~67:1 per session (lower than previous days, possibly due to richer Discord context)
  • Overall: ~75:1

Observations

  1. Hologram entity uniquification: User feedback surfaces a real UX pain — shadowing entities with same name but different owner. Nickname-based deduplication with ID fallback is a clean solution. Implementation appears straightforward (normalize nicknames first, then #id for ties).

  2. Agent friction on edge cases: Agent initially dismissed ID-based fallback as "rare edge case"; user objected and provided rationale. Signals that agents should avoid dismissing solutions without understanding the domain constraint (permission-based entity ownership is a real feature, not edge case).

  3. Production override handling: Deletion constraints interact with per-user permission overrides in production (luvoid has sendnote override). User caught a premature fix before deploy — signal that agents should understand production config implications.

  4. Fuwafuwa baseline continues: 40+ autonomous sessions, no issues, consistent cadence.

Projects Touched

  • hologram (entity uniquification, autocomplete disambiguation, note deletion constraints)
  • fuwafuwa (autonomous Discord monitoring)

Next Steps (inferred)

  1. Implement hologram entity uniquification: nickname normalization (primary) + #id fallback (tie-break)
  2. Test autocomplete behavior with duplicates before/after fix
  3. Verify production override handling for deletion constraints (luvoid case)
  4. Continue fuwafuwa autonomous monitoring
