Daily Log: 2026-06-15

A focused github-io day built on the previous session's completed arc. The day's register is ecosystem cleanup becoming ecosystem principle: work that started as housekeeping (the scribble ADR, a skill-loading bug) turned into a self-contained redesign decision with real structural consequences for every repo. fuwafuwa ran its autonomous Discord monitoring loop underneath (131 sessions).

Sessions and Activity

github-io (ecosystem docs + harness)

Two sessions on 2026-06-15, picking up the thread left by the prior session (2026-06-13) that had reframed scribble as a medium for authored content (ADR-0286) and begun surfacing a skill-loading mechanism defect.

Session [c36f3c96] (~11:09 – ~20:12):

The session opened with the user bringing two ideas, the first being scribble — resurrecting it as an active open thread, acknowledged as "still blocked on unfucking reincarnate." From there the conversation became a Socratic probe into scribble's identity: what triggered the thought, and what scribble's actual point is.

  • The trigger was a contrast moment: watching a chess video in a dark room where the bright chessboard stood out. The user's point, after several failed guesses from the agent, was that scribble should be a reactive display medium — not ambient-aware in a sensor-fusion sense, but that the content itself should modulate based on surrounding context (a bright piece commanding attention in dark surroundings).
  • The user then pushed on scribble's fundamental value proposition: "the entire point of scribble is that it's a fucking medium for authored content." After multiple wrong framings from the agent, this was stated plainly. The agent had not derived it despite prior exposure — "if it was fucking obvious you would have gotten it at least once in the past how many corrections."
  • The follow-on question — "why not just html then?" — pushed toward articulating scribble's differentiation. The answer converged on: scribble targets content creators who can't or won't write HTML (godot has creative-power but "how many content creators can do godot"), and it closes the gap between expressive authored intent and high-performance native rendering. This framing was accepted: "sounds good now yes 😃"
  • Midway through the session, a structural defect surfaced: the agent noted that a skill was "already loaded in github-io via the symlink ~/.claude/commands/… → tooling/claude-commands/…." The user's reaction was immediate: "wait what the fuck. doesn't CLAUDE.md say that global tooling is garbage."
  • This forced a confrontation with the skill-loading architecture. The agent's initial hedge — "It is not a blanket 'anything under ~/.claude/ is garbage'" — was rejected: "yes it is? because anything that can be repository-specific but isn't is making the repos not self-contained."
  • The redesign conclusion: skills must live in each repo's committed .claude/commands/, with github-io's own committed directory serving as the ecosystem's authoring source of truth. The ~/.claude global path is never the right home for ecosystem skills. The session drove through the rollout plan (fan-out via sync-skills.sh, 37 recipient repos), classification of stranded skills, and the recipient table structure.
  • Pre-existing uncommitted material was noted ("uhh the pre existing stuff we might need to commit at some point") and committed.
  • Session closed with a missed handoff ("uhh did you forget to handoff"), leading to the next session.

Session [aac3112e] (~20:17, handoff-continuation):

The handoff landed with the completed arc summarized: scribble reframed (ADR-0286), skill-loading redesign committed and pushed to 37 repos. The session confirmed the open thread: ADR-0014 still describes the now-retired ~/.claude/commands/ mechanism as if it were active. The user asked directly whether ADR-0014 should now be considered rejected post-hoc ("yeah but now it is rejected post-hoc, yes? after we changed our philosophy?"), confirming the ADR-0014 superseding record as the live follow-up thread.

Observations:

  • The day's substantive output was an ecosystem-wide structural decision: the canonical skill location is now each repo's committed .claude/commands/, with no ~/.claude global copy, ever. This emerged from a concrete defect, not from abstract principle — the symlink was live and wrong, and the user caught it.
  • The scribble design thread is unblocked at the conceptual level (authored-content medium, reactive display, content-creator audience) but implementation remains blocked on reincarnate.
  • ADR-0014's superseding record is the natural next thread; the supersede-vs-amend question was unresolved at session close.

fuwafuwa (autonomous)

131 sessions on 2026-06-15, the standard autonomous Discord monitoring loop. No user-directed messages; no tool-call instrumentation. Consistent with the established autonomous baseline.

Token Usage

ProjectSessionsOutput TokensCache ReadInput TokensTurns
github-io2~221,000~13,270,000~177,00050
fuwafuwa (autonomous)131———262

Cache hit ratio for github-io: ~60:1 (13.3M read / 221K output), reflecting a long single-day design and rollout session against a heavily-loaded project context. Unique input was 6.2M tokens against 221K output — the context cost of a full ecosystem scan and 37-repo rollout.

Observations

  1. A housekeeping bug became a principle. The discovery that ~/.claude/commands/ was being used as a skill load path — via symlink, not committed files — surfaced a self-containment violation the user treated as a fundamental defect, not a configuration detail. The fix was architectural: retire the global path entirely, make committed in-repo files the only valid load path.

  2. The scribble identity question recurred and landed. The framing "medium for authored content" (established in ADR-0286) was reinforced through the scribble-vs-HTML probe. The user's patience for re-explaining it was visibly limited — the agent's failure to internalize it across sessions was called out explicitly.

  3. ADR lifecycle housekeeping is now overdue. ADR-0014 describes a retired mechanism as active. The user confirmed it should be treated as post-hoc rejected. That ADR needs its superseding record before the mechanism is entirely forgotten.

  4. fuwafuwa's autonomous loop ran at high volume (131 sessions) with no user-directed activity and no visible blockers — consistent with established baseline behavior.

Projects Touched

  • github-io — scribble identity reinforced (authored-content medium); skill-loading redesign completed and rolled out to 37 repos; ADR-0014 superseding record identified as live follow-up.
  • fuwafuwa — autonomous Discord monitoring (131 sessions).

Next Steps (inferred from session endpoints)

  1. github-io: Write ADR-0287 superseding ADR-0014 — document the canonical skill location (committed .claude/commands/ per repo) and retire the ~/.claude global mechanism formally.
  2. github-io: Confirm aeriea's unpushed state and resolve; clean up the 2026-06-16 — Skill-loading redesign follow-ups TODO section as items are completed.
  3. scribble: Resume the open thread once reincarnate is unblocked — the conceptual framing is now stable.
  4. fuwafuwa: Continue autonomous monitoring at baseline.
